Note
Science Caterpillars grew fast over the weekend and we found chrysalises in the containers this morning. We transferred them to the classroom size net. We are now waiting for the beautiful Painted Ladies to appear! Students created their own Did you know that...? about an animal of their choice. Math Students did their last mad minutes (+, -, X) this morning. Two minutes for each. Later they worked on word problem solving. Art Charlotte's dad, Chad VanGaalen, came to do a cool art project with us this afternoon. He introduced the students to artist trading cards and gave each of them nine blank cards. Students were inspired and created amazing art work using colouring pencils and markers as well as doing collages. Here is what Chad shared with us: In September of 1997 Don Mabie (a.k.a. Chuck Stake) held the first ATC trading session in Calgary at The New Gallery. Since that time on, regular Trading Sessions are every month at the New Gallery. 75 people have come to the monthly trading sessions with a group of 30-35 people that come regularly. Most of the people who come are artists, art students and members of the general people from six to sixty years old.
